The bear gets prodded in the rear

The valiant Ukrainians can still surprise us. Troops and armored fighting vehicles crossed the Russian border four days ago, while panicked border guards fled before them. Essentially a large commando raid, a battalion or brigade of Ukrainian Army soldiers (not anti-Putin Russians and other foreign volunteers as in earlier incursions) have advanced some 20 miles from the frontier, causing the Russians to hurry reinforcements to the region. So far the Germans and the Brits and even the occasional American have stoutly defended Ukraine's right to take the long war of attrition onto enemy territory. Joe Biden of course has not been heard from.
