What will the Through Hikers think?

OMG, it seems that the custodians of Mt Katahdin and Baxter State Park are thinking of rerouting the Appalachian Trail so that it no longer ends at that knife-edge summit in Maine! The traffic is just too much.

I  hope the Through Hikers (Springer Mountain in Georgia to Katahdin in Maine) have a year or two to adjust. How would you like to be two thousand miles along the trail and to be told, Oops! Sorry! You must now head for Bangor town hall!
