Occupy the Wall Street Journal

I sometimes review books for the Wall Street Journal. The most recent such assignment was for the American Library volume "Into the Blue", an anthology of aviation articles and excerpts from books over the years. It runs in the WSJ today, with a four-column pretty picture of a J-3 Piper Cub "in the blue".

I have just put down your review of Into the Blue, and I especially liked your description of Norman Mailer's reaction to the Apollo 11 launch. How different, and more apt, the reaction of Bill Buckley to a later Apollo launch. As the earth finally stopped heaving and the rocket disappeared from view, a reporter queried him: "Mr. Buckley, you are an eloquent man. How would you describe what you have just seen?" "With silence," Buckley responded.
