'Republicans and other conservatives'

'Mr. Obama is coming under increased pressure from Republicans and other conservatives who say he should take a more visible stance in support of the protesters.'

So says the New York Times with respect to the president's hey-no-problem attitude toward the stolen election in Iran. Read a bit further, however, and you find that the phrase 'other conservatives' casts a rather wide net:

'senior members of the administration, including Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, would like to strike a stronger tone in support of the protesters'.

Gosh, and to recall that I voted for Obama in the New Hampshire primary in part to keep Ms Clinton out of the Oval Office. Who knew she'd have more balls than the dude from Chicago? Blue skies! -- Dan Ford
