On demonizing oneself

This is (or so we are told) an image from a video triumphantly posted by an Islamic organization, celebrating the fact that a boy identified as twelve years old used that knife (in his right hand) to cut the throat of, and then behead, another Muslim who'd been fingered as an 'American spy'. (What do you suppose the overt act was--reading Playboy?) The lad then held up the severed head by the hair and cried, 'God is great!'

Whew! Pardon me while I barf. Compared to the Islamowackos of today, Adolf Hitler was a paragon of the Enlightenment.

It used to be fashionable, in time of war, to demonize one's enemy. This must be the first instance in the history of warfare where one side goes out of its way to demonize itself.

Dan, I couldn't agree with you more. What is interesting is that this did not receive more airtime in the US. I did see it mentioned briefly somewhere (can't remember). It is hard to understand why many media and politico types think that these individuals deserve an excess of human rights and fair play.
