Was Clayton Bissell a Soviet stooge?

Clayton Bissell was the man that Claire Chennault, his Flying Tigers, and AVG buffs over the years have loved to hate. As much as anything, it was Bissell's arrogance that persuaded AVG veterans not to sign on with the 23rd Fighter Group in China when their mercenary unit was disbanded in July 1942. Afterward, as commander of the 10th Air Force in India, Bissell made Chennault's life miserable.

Now comes an email from Waldemar Pajdosz in Poland, following up our earlier exchange about the massacre of Polish officers and sergeants at Katyn. That was Stalin’s way of obliterating the country's potential leaders, the better to take it over after Germany’s defeat. With admirable chutzpah, the Russians persuaded a gullible West that it was the Germans who'd murdered those thousands of Polish young men. (I blogged earlier about the magnificent feature film.)

Well, guess what? Clayton Bissell (by then a major general and the USAAF’s intelligence chief) was part of that coverup. See the website Katyn Memorial Wall for how Bissell classified a report on the massacre ‘and made it disappear--instantly, permanently and without a trace'. Not until the Korean War put the final nail in the coffin of Soviet-American friendship was the US public ready to accept the truth about Katyn.

The website goes so far as to suggest that Bissell was on the Russian payroll. More likely he was only gullible--there was a lot of that going around in the 1930s and 1940s. The Biographical Dictionary of World War II--hardly a font of conspiracy theories--concludes it short biography by saying: 'Testifying before Congress in 1950, [Bissell] admitted helping cover up Soviet guilt in the Katyn Forest Massacre by misusing the top secret classification.' Blue skies! – Dan Ford

Wars are waste of numerous young lives of military personnel who are only plain recruits whose average is nineteen years old.the civilian despots are responsible for the "carnage" of these young military recruits

Our " friendly " neighbor China is " grabbing " disputed areas at West China Sea which are within the 200 nautical miles (off shore ) of the Philippines. I hoped that China respect the arbitration processes at the United Nation. the Philippines and China and other claimants can co explore the natural resources except oil at this area. As of this December,2015 " fossil " oil is the issue among the claimants to the area. Upon global commercialization of " solar " energy which is implemented circa 2090, " fossil " oil is a useless commodity due to the 2015 world climate forum in France; and why a regional carnage over fossil oil when it is already almost obsolete? the hindrance to rapid implementation of solar energy is the gigantic investments of the West on the oil fields of the Middle East and its countries must divert now their oil revenues to some sustainable industry like tourism in lieu of the exploration of addtional oil fields.
Shale oil exploration had caused already a recent decrease in the oil prices of oil producing nations like Indonesia.. Texas and Alaska, USA

Middle East must make their countries tourist " friendly "to attract foreign investment for tourist infrastructures. otherwise " hunger " is in the horizon when " fossil " oil price is at " rock " bottom due to other " green " energy. in the Philippine Deep there an "energy " which awaits exploration which can separate the H2 from H2O-a technology, and this is the real issue: Muslim Seperatist in Mindanao under the guise of Muslim Mindanao Autonomy. Is it difficult to comprehend and believe this mindanao seperatist issue which is almost 50 years than the Ukraine and French Canadian and Tamil etc separatist issues
