Major Olmsted sees an end to war
America’s first fatality in Iraq for 2008 is Andrew Olmsted, who among other things blogged for the Rocky Mountain News. Of course he realized that men were dying in Iraq, and that he—being a man—might do likewise. And, as a blogger, he took the precaution of writing a final post in advance, since obviously he would not be able to do it after the fact. The result is hard to read, but you should do it anyway: read it here. (I confess I had to Google all the references except the one to Plato).
Rest easy, Major Olmsted. You were a good man, a brave soldier, and a fine writer.
