Political asylum in -- Ecuador!

How delicious it is that Julian Asange, who for nearly two years has been fighting extradition from England, has asked for political asylum in, of all place, the quasi-dictatorship of Ecuador! It seems that Mr Asange, the great Wikileaker, is not so much terrified that the Swedes might put him in the pokey for rape, as that they might turn around and extradite him to the United States, where he is wanted for spilling classified stuff all over the internet. His latest move puts me in something of a quandary. While it would be fun to see him scolded by the famously tolerant Swedes, on the other hand, it's an absolute joy to consider him holed up for life in Rafael Correa's somnolent backwater.
