in New York, the world turned upside down

There's a hilarious contest going on for the 20th Congressional District seat in New York state. Get this: the Democratic candidate is a venture capitalist, while the Republican is your standard-issue pol, just the opposite of what party doctrine would suggest. And of course the Republican is hanging the AIG bonus scandal on the Democrat's neck (though, as a venture capitalist, he wasn't in the Congress to vote for the bill that made those bonuses possible--indeed, arguably mandatory). In a virtuous world, all you Democrats should go out and vote for the Republican, and vice versa, but of course that won't happen. Instead we'll be perplexed. If the Republican wins, is that a setback for Obama, or an endorsement of his stimulus package? Blue skies! -- Dan Ford
